Power loss + traction control light

OK, so starting out from a light the engine will run fine through first gear. Shift to second around 5k-6k, 2nd starts ok but when i reach 6k there is no power. The car lunges foward but the rpms stay up and at this point the traction control light comes on and stays on. I shift to third, regain power and go.... no problems through the rest of the gears. The light stays on until the ignition is turned off. Once you turn the car back on, it is gone.

what are the possible problems?

Something with your MAF, dirty MAF, bad MAF, Air Leakage or some problems with harness.

dealership just told me.... "the TC light is coming on because one wheel is spinning faster then the others, and at that the system will cut the fuel until the speeds equal out"

Are all tires / wheels the same size? Have you check the tire pressures?

How many miles on the car? How many miles on the plugs and coils? IIRC, BHR suggests to resolve the problems with the car before putting in his coils/wires.

So your dealership means that you loosing traction? they must forgot that our cars dont have enough torqe to pull that stuff off.

Alot of BS.

Check all regarding MAF as said can also be bad connection to your battery.

You can try resetting your pcm next time.

anytime somethings off I reset that first thing to see if it fixes it.

^.....doubtful in my opinion. Think the air pump only works when car is first turned on to help heat up the exhaust for emissions. It's off after about 15 seconds.

Sorry for the thread revival, but this morning on my way to work I was cruising in 6th gear with the cruise control on. I was going around 68mph when suddenly my traction control started flashing and then my vehicle had no power. I dropped my car to 3rd gear and kept it at high rpms for a few seconds then shift to 4th, and still no power in 4th gear. I dropped the car back to 3rd gear again then kept it at high rpms for longer then shifted back to 6th and everything started working again. Any idea why this happened? I recently just replaced my brake pads and I'm running on my extra set of rims because my regular set is getting new tires.

*update*
It was the extra set of rims with different tires on that triggered the incident.
It was reading different wheel speeds.

Fix?

Hello,
Had this happen to me this morning.
from home to FWY the car was fine.
Jumped on the freeway and when I hit 6k on 5th the traction control light flashes and RPMS started to fall. I shifted to 4th and again at 6k the light flashed and RPMS began to drop. I started to shift at 4K and kept it at 4K. I guess that was the sweet spot. Drove the rest of the way to work that was without incident.
Have any of you figured out the fix? I will check my tire pressure after work since it was mentioned above.

Assuming your wheels aren’t spinning then more than likely it’s not reading the wheel speeds correctly or there’s a malfunction with the ABS controller.

Did you try turning traction control off? What happens if you do turn it off?

most of the previous replies are misinformed and should be ignored.

I was on the freeway when it flashed. It turned off once I was under 4.5k.

I understood you, but am more or less asking you to turn off TC, duplicate the same conditions, and report back what happened. In theory it should run fine, but let’s see.
