P2106 error :(

Howdy all. Having a bit of a issue with my rex8.

The other day I was driving over a speed bump and heard a clunking noise and then a few seconds later the engine cut out. Tried to start the engine again but all I got was the ticking over. The engine warning light came on as well.

So I parked the car and took a look under the bonnet to see what the noise I had heard was. The bottom half of the heat shield has called off and is now hanging on by a wire which I can only presume as the lambda sensor. On further inspection of this I noticed that the connector for the sensor has kinda melted a bit and fused it to the other end of the connector so I can't simply remove it. Which means I now have a dragging heat shield (not that that makes a difference with the cat not working).

Anyway I tried the engine a few more time n it looks to me that no petrol is going to the engine, so I got ahold of a obd2 sensor that gave me thus code.

P2106 Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Limited Power

From what I've read this limits power to the engine which is why the car isn't starting.

My problem is I have no idea how to sort this. Any suggestions?
Also I've been told that the factory heatshield has a 100k warranty and I've only done 42k. If this is the case would the sensor also b included under the warranty seeing it's the fault Of the heat shield melting it?

Cheers
James

James............I'll take a shot!

1.) Doesn't sound like you are in the US.
2.) Sounds like you are gonna have to get an new o2 sensor at the very least and deal with the harness as well.
3.) Simply not sure if that would keep the car from starting, but probable(I suppose). I actually think you will find you have other issues.
4.) US warranty is 100k on engine, but heat shield would NOT be included anyway. Don't think this applies to you at all however.

Sorry for the bad news! :(

still having the same issue with the car :(
so far its been to a garage that says its a electrical fault. Seems that there is no fuel going to the engine. However they got a electrical engineer out who could not resolve the issue. any sugestions on what i could try next?

Sorry for the bad news! :(

He is in Scotland. Warranty terms could be very different for him.

Yeah sorry in Scotland. According to online sources I got a engine cover of up2 100k or 8 years cover. Tho I think it's time instead of taking it to a cowboy garage like halfords I'll take it to a nice new Mazda garage. Hopefully everything is covered. I just Wana drive my sweet baby again hehe
