P0661 (I Searched) need more advice.

4 weeks ago i got the cel P0661. i did my searching and fixed the problem by taking the UIM off and spraying the SSV with cleaner. (altough i know the cel is for an electric problem not a stuck SSV). it cleared the cel so i took the car for a spin to see how everything was running and in the process got in my first wreck. (Exciting i know). anyways i got my car back from the shop friday and what do you know the cel comes on i get it checked and its the P0661. it has a loss of power from about 4000 rpms to around 7000 and at 7000 its almost like a switch opens up and it just takes off. my theory is the SSV is just opening very late.?? Maybe? i did the same procedure although everything was already clean since it was done no less than a month ago. when i say everything i mean SSV Actuator, all three plugs behind the UIM, and SSV. the only thing different is that i tryed a method mentioned by jon on here about switching the Air Pump Connector and Hose with the SSV Connector and hose. problem with that was my car would sputter when cruising and sound like it was trying to die. sooo i switched everything back and now it does all that including the loss of power and when i come to a stop it nearly dies drops the rpms all the way and pops back up.

so should i just replace the solenoids because as of now that seems to be the culprit. by the way i did check to see that they were getting 12 volts and they all were.

Sounds like the SSV doesnt open up freely but the APV is working fine so a SSV replacement is required assuming the solenoid works fine.

When you checked for 12V, did you measure across the connector or did you ground to the chassis?
Check for an open circuit between the solenoid and PCM:

The PCM monitors voltage to the solenoid when its turned off.
If the voltage is under 5.8V, the PCM determines the voltage is low and throws a P0661 DTC

I measured at the connector to the solenoid and was at 12v ... Replacing the ssv seems crazy since it actually moves freely and with vacuum. Unless there something else causing the malfunction.

The only mods I have are a k&n air filter and straight pipes.

Did you end up fixing this problem as I have exactly the same symptoms but I have had the upgraded SSV recently replaced! So it's not that.
