Well I ran car a little too full on oil and now I have this light. I have messed with and cleaned the solenoid connections. Light is still showing up. I also tried manually moving the valve and it moves pretty freely. Based on this info does it seem like it would be more the valve or the sol? I really dont feel like taking the valve out, will just spraying something in the intake clean it up? Maybe even having the decarb process done remedy this?

When you "messed with the solenoid" did you actually apply 12V to it and verify the flow was switched to the other port?
If the SSV moved freely, spraying anything into the UIM isn't going to do any good.
And the "decarb" process involves spraying into the maintenance ports, which is on the primary runners and will never reach the SSV.

I did not apply the 12v and verify that the flow switched direction.

Instead of swapping the plugs and hoses to from the air pump lines. Couldnt you detach the hose from the valve and have some one rev it and see if there is any suction happening?

Alright so I just switched the air and ssv sol plugs and hoses. The light went out and a new P2259 light came on. This means the ssv sol is bad right?

Also I believe I was right in just taking loose the valve end of the hose that runs the ssv sol and having someone rev on it. Nothing really seem to happen. With finger over hole firmly there was a slight buldge in the hose line but there wasnt a noticable flow of any nature coming through.

Solenoid is bad or electrical contacts are tarnished.

Yea I know I saw this already. I don't have a power source nor do I have any interest in performing tests like this when other simpler/easier more common sense methods can be applied to get the same answers. Electrical connection has already been cleaned and inspected.

The swapping plugs hoses was a great way to test. The solenoid was bad. Immediately after install my car was idling smoother. I had an sort of rough idle ever since I installed this motor like 9k ago. Wonder what took so long for the light to pop on.

I was also able to accomplish the hose/plug switch test and sol replacement without removing the upper intake.

How did you accomplish the hose/plug switch test and sol replacement without removing the upper intake? I need to do this to my 8 and any help is much appreciated.

The hose switch was pretty easy I think I just used a long skinny flat headed screw driver to pop the hoses loose and reconnect them. I got after this from the front.

Switching the actual sol out was a little tougher... I think I used the same screw driver. There is a bracket\clip on the backside of the sol - the drivers side of the sol. You have to open the clip and then slide the unit toward the rear of the vehicle to release it. Becareful because its really easy to accidentally snap this clip off which I did. Since your getting at the middle one you have to get to take the top one loose as well. Upside my top sol has been working correctly with a broken tab so if it does break it isnt cause for new part. After you have it slide from its normal resting place, then release the normal wire plugs - this is easier now because its farther back and one can get at it easier with your fingers from back behind. Its very doable without taking loose the upper intake - which is a pita in my opinion. Just becareful when pushing on the releasing that clip and dont push too much on it. It only takes a little to release. Oh also if I remember correctly you come down from front of vehicle again, moving down in and to the side. There is a little slot just in the front of the sols (toward front bumper) that runs vertically, the edge of these clips stick out just a hair into this gap. Route your screw driver in and push the edges of these clips to open. Hope this makes sense and that Im remembering it correctly. Good luck!
