As the title states, I'm dealing with a CEL and a P0441 code. Every thread on this site relates this back the gas cap. I'm not sure what I can do to test the system from here to determine the next likely cause of failure. Am I stuck playing the "replace it and try" game with more expensive parts or taking it to a dealer? Any other cheap tricks I can try?

A majority of the time the culprit is the gas cap as was the issue with mine a few months ago. I replaced mine with a Stant 10838 from a local parts store for about $10. Unless you bought the wrong gas cap or it happens to be faulty right off the hop you might have to take your car in and have the evap. system looked at. Unless you want to crawl underneath your car and visually look over the lines , check the evap. canister and hope to find the issue yourself. Good luck.
