No-Start, This is not a battery problem (clicking when trying to start)

After having stored my car for the winter I went to start it last weekend. I had removed the battery and stored it inside and made sure it was charged before putting it back in.

When I went to start the car I got only the solenoid clicking sound with with not attempt to turnover the motor. Here is everything I have tried so far:

- Jumping the car, this only made the clicking louder (I figure the solenoid was just actuating better)

- Jacking it up and having someone tap on the starter while I tired to start car (while jumping the car)

- Removed the starter from the car tested the motor by directly hooking it to a battery, the starter motor spins fine. Also tested the solenoid by hooking it up directly and confirmed it actuates fine

I believe the issue has to do with the internal mechanism that starts the motor after the solenoid engages the starter motor. Possibly there is an issue with the power coming to the starter motor...

Also of note, this is a new starter motor that was installed by a dealership last year around this time.

Any suggestions are welcome

Check and clean all the connections from battery to starter and all of the grounding or earth points. why do you think its an internal prob with the starter, if the starter operates normally when you bench test it ? What happens if you have your headlights on when you try to start the car, do they dim a little or is there a significant drop in brightness ?

Starter is probably just hung. Put the car into gear, and either rock it back and forth or roll it a couple feet then try to start . Happened to me several times with older cars.

^^ It cant be hung if he has bench tested the starter and it works fine.

The starter may turn on the bench, but the Bendix gear might not work properly, giving just a 'zing' instead of a start.....

I would look closely at the battery terminal connections. Make sure they are nice and tight.

He did say he had tested the solenoid , I assumed he meant the bendix mechanism.
