No Heat in My CAR!!!!

Well, I get up this morning to drive my girlfriend to work as usual because the heat in her car doesnt work. Everything is normal, but about 5 minutes into the trip, my heat goes from nice and toasty to freezing cold.

I look down at my controls and the indication lights are really dim and sometimes just shut off completely. The rest of the car functions normally. So for the remaining 15 minutes of the trip its freezing cold (22 degrees F). When the car is at a stand still the lights on the controls come back on but still no heat.

When I make the trip back to my apartment, the Check Engine Coolant light comes on and so does the Low Oil Light. I know for a fact the oil isnt low because I just put more in yesterday at the gas station. I was inadequately dressed at the moment so I couldnt check the under the hood so I ran back up here and posted this.

Could this be my problem? Anybody have any suggestions before I call the dealership and drive the 30 minutes to it?

First, check the relays and fuses under the hood. It could be that there is a loose or bad fuse that is causing your trouble, but if that doesn't do it I would take it to the dealership. The low coolant light and the low oil light and the flickering lights in the control itself lead me to believe that you have an electrical problem, and not the normal problem with the Control Unit that usually causes no heat. If you want to read about the normal control unit problem do a search for "no heat" and something like heat or HVAC control unit. There are a few threads on it.

How old is your battery? Take the car to someone who can check the battery and alternator. Also, have you done any modding involving the electrical system? If so, then check any connections/splices/etc you may have done for the mods.

No mods at all, other than a K&N Air Filter if you want to call that a mod.

A new battery was just put in about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I just wanted to say that at least you have the perfect name for no heat in the car.

But on a serious note, have you installed anything that you would have to splice into wires for (leds, fog light rewire, etc...). Sounds like it could be a simple shortout, but those can be a real bitch to fix.

Your temp control **** is broken.

get it replaced at dealership, what they will do is replace the whole HVAC head unit.

Happened to me. and they replaced it with a ******* Reman .... whatever, it works Im ok with it.
