Question New Owner... engine sqeeling?

I just got my dream 3 days ago, owned a few rx7's but none compare!!
There is a low squeel/beep coming from the engine bay, the service explanation was the air intake, but this is really high pitched and pronounced and I can only hear it when idleing (obviously). Am I just stupid or does everyone else hear this? REALLY appreciate any answers.... - living a rotary dream...

there can be a high pitched sound from the engine as air passes some stuff.

see if it sounds like this:

if it does, then it's normal.

If it's not coming from the intake, I would check the belt tension or one of the accessories the belt drives. A loose or worn drive belt would squeal. Also, a bearing in the alternator going bad could make such a noise.

+1 ^. Check these as alnielsen explained above.... Also you can remove the belt start the car and run it with out the belt. Only for a few seconds though. Did the noise go away? If so replace the belt and check all belt driven accessories, like idle pully, alt, etc etc.

update? My first thought was the belt. Does it happen at all times?
The car does have a natural high pitched sound (as mysql pointed out) Probably won't be anything major.

BTW: CONGRATS on the car!!!

Could it be the serpentine belt?

Thanks HEAPS everyone... looks like the squeel (not a pig!!) more like a ringing in your ears after a big night...- is normal. It starts off as a ringing then between 3 and 4krpm it gets louder like a whistle, then the engine noise drowns it out. Apreciate all your help, hope this answers some other new owners Q, their just so diff to the 7, but diff I like!!
