new midpipe. check light on
Ok so new midpipe installed yesterday everything was awesome. Runs great the o2 sensor is hooked up and everything. 100 miles later engine light comes on get it checked out and it says its running lean. We did space the sensor out a tad. What are my options on fixing this?

Don't space out the sensor.
You will get the "catalytic converter below efficiency threshhold" code instead of course. You can't out-smart the ECU, none of the historical tricks work on our ECU (or probably any other fully modern ECU). Everything you do to defeat one code will be detected and a different code will be thrown instead. It isn't a simple sensor or a simple set of logic. It measures pulsation rates, heat values, voltage values, and the target that it's looking for changes under various driving conditions and the ECU is looking for these changes too. Far far too complex to solve with simple hardware or even simple electronics.
The only way you can defeat it is to reflash the ECU with a map that removes the possibility of throwing the codes in the first place. The ECU will then see nothing wrong with emissions gear missing.

COBB AccessPORT or MazdaEdit are the two known methods for Series 1, MazdaEdit only for Series 2.
You can try anything you would like to fool the ECU, but in 10 years of trying no one has ever reported being successful. If you think you can come up with something that no one else has thought of, feel free. Let us know how successful you are.
