Wow, it's been a while since I've been on here.

First of all, I'm so sorry to hear about all your problems Erik. :banghead: :icon_no2:

Ok...

So not to threadjack but....

Just took my car in about 2 weeks ago for being low on power. After some runaround and them saying it was bad spark plugs and a bad coil....

Front rotor 99.4, 99.6, 104

Rear rotor 108, 107, 111

They said that 98 psi was their "time for a new motor" spec. So the front rotor will be there in a few thousand mile I'm guessing.

I'm really scared about getting a "new" motor after reading this thread.

What should I do? Will I really get a new motor?

I got my car at Berge, and get it serviced there. Who should I talk to?

:puke:

I'll try to remember to bring my scope over there on Monday before Karl starts to strap it up. I wanted to get a better look at the last motor, anyway.

Relax G-Rat I think I've taken all the bad luck from this side of the world.
Hey,, Just go and ask for Vince, (at Berge) he's my service writer. Tell him what the problem is and tell him you want Karl to work on it.
Just tell Vince my name and say I told him to help you, then watch him run.

As far as the engine goes you will be getting a new one from Mazda.
(This has not been publicly stated by Mazda to my knowledge, but I have heard it from some reliable sources.)
As will anybody else who needs a new engine.
I am understanding that Williams Technologies is not doing anymore Rotary Re-manufactured Engines. I also understand that Mazda will be sending NEW ENGINES out to customers whose engines fail testing.

Since you seem to have some "inside knowledge" of recent changes, do you know how the reman structure/supply for older rotaries will be impacted by this change (if true)?

What do you mean "older rotaries"?

I think he means non-renesis rotaries...

Just a guess.

RotaryResurrection 08-04-2007 05:29 PM

Yes, as in the FC and FD guys that call up wanting a reman...wonder what they will be getting, if what you say is true. Surely mazda is going to move the reman program to a different subcontractor, instead of just cutting them out altogether as you suggest.

MazdaManiac 08-04-2007 06:04 PM

As of right now, there is just a stop-work in place for WT on Renesis motors.
I don't know about any of the legacy motors.
However, as far as I know, WT is still supplying the other current motors in Mazda's line up.

As far as I know right now Jeff is correct.

G-rat- Just like Erick said call Vince at Berge mazda and Ask for me (karl) to work on your car. When you come to bring your car in tell vince to let me know so I can talk with you about the issues with your car.

Rotaryresurrection-These new motors that Mazda is sending out are part of the reman program which is why they have the blue reman tag on them. Mazda does not paint anything on the new motors, and the front cover/water pump are brand new which is why they are really shiny.

RotaryResurrection 08-06-2007 02:50 AM

...but if the bare aluminum front cover is "new, that is why it is really shiny" and the bare aluminum rotorhousings, also supposedly new, are dull, then...

?

Easy_E1 08-06-2007 07:04 AM

I know is the Engine is NEW. I will take my camera with me today and try to take some real pics. But chances are he will have it installed today. So the pics I would like to get will not be available due to accessories installed on the engine.
Perhaps MM will have a chance to look it over and comment further today.
As far as the front cover and the housings they are two different parts, why should they have the same finish?

shaunv74 08-06-2007 07:23 PM

That flywheel looks really different than the stock one from my 8. Did it come from the factory like that or is it your own aftermarket flywheel?

MazdaManiac 08-06-2007 07:30 PM

Its an auto transmission flex plate, not a flywheel.

So I just picked the car up. Drove 45 miles home. So far so good. J/K
I will start premixing tonight when I fill it up.
Taking it back tomorrow for an alignment, and the install of the Mazdaspeed rear end.

09Factor 08-06-2007 08:26 PM

Come on Easy, just install the turbo...You know you want to.
You have a "new" motor to start with. :-)

Ah thanks. I've never had much experience with autos. Something about them sucking I guess. :lol2: j/k

Seriously though it does look like something out of a '78 Ford Crown Vic and looks really out of place on that shiny new engine. You learn something new every day.

Hope this one is working out for you Easy!

Surprise surprise.

chickenwafer 08-10-2007 12:20 AM

I'd be pissed Abbid. Start cracking heads!

chickenwafer 08-10-2007 12:52 AM

Haha you made that sound dirty.

Oh yeah Abbid; you don't need to harrass the Russian anymore. I'm not getting his kit. Looking at the MazSport type-3 instead. But thank for the help ;)
