Well, The WT motors are failing pretty consistently, so the bottom line has to be addressed.
All of the Japan motors come through Alabama. They stopped using San Diego for some reason.

Easy_E1 08-01-2007 06:49 PM

I'm just happy not to be getting another one of those "PEICES OF SHIT" from that lame remanufacturing plant!:balls:

<----------- I want them to send this one!:Eyecrazy:

THANK YOU MAZDA!!!! :bluesuit:

rotaryman25 08-01-2007 08:16 PM

Alabama is one of Mazdas distribution hubs. Generally everything comming overseas will land here and shipped out to wherever dealers there going to. It is otherwise known as "Olive branch" as some Mazda employees will say.

The DCSM you spoke with is new to this job and just recently took over our region of dealers, if you had mentioned Olive Branch she might have understood you. Ill call my friend at Mazda and verify this info about WT. They need to do something fricken quick about these fricken remans!

MazdaManiac 08-01-2007 08:46 PM

The need to send them to us for inspection! Long-term!

I want a souvenir !!!!!

I think Karl needs to leave #2 and #3 sitting out back near the roll-up door...
I won't tell. We can use that Bobcat...

Easy_E1 08-01-2007 09:08 PM

No we'll use this one reach right over the wall,,,

MazdaManiac 08-01-2007 09:12 PM

Don't need to reach over the wall - we can drive right onto the lot.
Its getting them out of the building that is going to be the trick.

jeffe19007 08-01-2007 09:19 PM

Trenchcoats. It is raining, it will look natural.

Or a baby buggy.... yeah, that will do nicely.

We still need to do some dumpster diving on WT before it gets cleaned out!

All I hear on the 7 forums is how easy it is to rebuild a rotary compared to a piston engine, what can these folks be doing?

MazdaManiac 08-01-2007 09:32 PM

The folks at WT are not particularly facile or well trained.
Because they build these things by rote, some of the fairly subtle details (like which side of the side seal goes up and, yes, there is a difference between an "A" side seal and an "E" side seal even though they look the same) are completely ignored.
The ease by which a rotary can be built over a piston motor comes from the fact that there aren't too many special tools or machining techniques needed.
Setting up a cylinder head, for example, requires a machine shop and a bunch of special tools.
A rotary motor can be assembled almost entirely by hand and the various components can be selected and clearanced with only a micrometer.

I find it most interesting, from the business standpoint, that:
1. it has been stated here that Mazda will STOP using WT and
2. if it is so damn easy to reassemble a RENESIS, then WHY exactly is WT backed up and...
3. are they this backed up simply BECAUSE it's summer again and these 04 and 05 RENESIS motors are failing in droves around the country?

I'm not one to subscribe to conspiracy theories but, c'mon...

PhotoMunkey 08-01-2007 09:55 PM

Has anyone had an 06 motor fail?

Razz1 08-01-2007 11:36 PM

Are you sure they even replaced your motor?

cleoent 08-01-2007 11:54 PM

my god what a nightmare.

I have patience, but after 4 engines i would make mazda buy the car back from me, and buy me a new car.

Because they're being reassembled by rotards with no thumbs. Doesn't really matter how easy they are to reassemble if it's done wrong more often than not, leading to a revolving door of wankels.

Easy_E1 08-03-2007 09:32 PM

So the "Brand New Engine" has arrived today.
Here are some crappy phone pic's,,,,

That darn thing is missing two intake ports!
Nice lightened "flywheel", though.

09Factor 08-04-2007 01:04 AM

And it has tranny cooler lines.

WTF?

RotaryResurrection 08-04-2007 01:07 AM

front cover/waterpump housing is painted, and has a reman tag on it. Curious...that normally happens on remans. Not saying this isn't new...but why would they paint a "new" front cover?

Jethro Tull 08-04-2007 01:41 AM

Why aren't the cast iron segments painted? Somebody at Mazda really in love with rust patinas?

MazdaManiac 08-04-2007 02:05 AM

Its not a reman tag, its a new cert. I guess they use the same type of label. The front cover is not painted, its just really shiny. Compare to the waterpump body. Cell phone pics FTL.

They don't paint the irons on new motors - go pop the hood on a new RX-8.

RotaryResurrection 08-04-2007 02:12 AM

yeah, I guess it could be just the pic...but the front cover looks awfully bright, while the rotorhousings (same material) look awfully dull, which is common with remans.

Front covers do not get painted on new engines...at least, not on the factory installed ones.

I was gonna tell you to get a pic of the rotor through the exhaust port...but then I remembered, renesis. :pat:

chickenwafer 08-04-2007 02:12 AM

good to hear you'll be on the road soon, Erick! Glad Mazda manned up and sent you a new engine. I'd make them send in a car payment for you, too.
