New 2004 Rx Owner help :)

I Just Bought a 04 rx8 with 34k miles on it. Day after i bought the car my engine light comes on (code-p0410) i drove it the first day and everything was fine, next morning when i had to go to work i turned it on and let it warm up for about 5 minutes and the light never shut of. i took it back to the dealer to fix it which they did but told me it was because "the car was running rich" they also told me to monitor the situation and let them know if anything changes. the next morning again after they fixed it i turned it on and this time didn't come back to the car for about 15 min. when i came back the light was on again. Can someone help me and tell me what this could be, so that way when the dealer gives me the car back i can see the receipt to see what they actually did and if it would match with what you guys would say. Thank You

P0410 AIR system problem ON 2 AIR system

This is a problem with your air pump. The dealer should have EASILY seen that. It isn't just going to "go away"

I'm not sure where they got "too rich" from, since those are any of these 4 codes:
P0172 System too rich ON 2 Fuel system
P2097 Target A/F feedback system too rich ON 2 Fuel system
P2196 Front HO2S signal stuck rich ON 2 HO2S
P2271 Rear HO2S signal stuck rich ON 2 HO2S

None of them are even close to P0410.

Are you sure that it was P0410?

Moved to Troubleshooting.

Yes, I'm Sure. Even on their receipt that they gave me states "62 code P0410 SEC AIR INJECTION SYSTEM PREFORM" "PINPOINT TESTS MAID COLD WEATHER ISSUE". i was also told by the dealer that they called Mazda dealership and they told them " IF CAR IS STARTED COLD AND CUSTOMER JUMPS ON HWY CAR MAY RUN TO RICH AND CAUSE PO410 CODE" all the quotes are from the receipt i got.

Do you have any other dealer or shop options? That dealer doesn't know what they are talking about, or are feeding you BS.

Do some reading on the air pump. It is only ever used for the first warmup of the cat when cold, the shuts off and never starts up until restart that has been long enough to cool the cat.

If its warm, you can shut it off and turn it on without worry.

The lights when you first put the key in on the ON position but the engine is not ON are normal. virtually all cars do that, it is just so you can see if the bulbs for the lights are working.

The startup sounds perfectly normal.

The coolant light is not normal. Have you checked your coolant level?

When you press the clutch in the car may move forward slightly sometimes because of the way that manual transmissions are designed, this is normal. It might have something to do with your throwout bearing or your slave cylinder adjustment, but probably not since you would experience other major problems while shifting.

So in short everything is normal except the coolant light.
