Need some advice from some experts please!!

hey guys Im a new Rx-8 owner, ive read up quite a bit on her as far as everyday maintenance and things of that nature. Unless its all in my head I think im starting to notice a slight loss in power and handling as well. Im starting to think maybe its just time for a tune up.
So the real question im getting at is are there any dead give aways that the 8 is in need of a tune up?
Also if anyone could give me a run down of how to spot things that typically need to be replaced or maintenanced often on the 8 that contribute to its overall performance and life span, that would be a great help!

Thanks for the help in advance!!

the dead give away is mileage and the fact you don't have service records! it seems rare that any of these cars were actually serviced at the recommended intervals, people just let Mazda fix stuff under warranty if it broke

Yeah I didn't receive service records when I purchased my 8. its an 04 and I do know that it had serviced for oil changes at regular intervals . I bought the car with 47k on it and im up to 63k now , since its still under 100k will mazda still cover the tsb's that apply to my car? I'm not sure since I didn't purchase directly from a mazda dealer.

as long as you're in the time and mileage they should be happy to. you should call either Mazda corporate or a dealership and give them the VIN and see if there are any recalls that need to be done

@63k i think you should be due for the big service, plugs, airfilter, trans and diff fluids, although its metric, might be 67k

As a 2004, you are probably past the 8yrs on the engine core warranty, with the only exception is if your first-sold date was in 2005 instead of 2004.

Note that TSBs aren't recalls, they are just a set of instructions to the dealer on how to handle a particular complaint, and does not have any independant warranty. You have to have an applying warranty for them to be handled for free, otherwise you get charged for the work. 3 years on most TSBs that fall under bumper to bumper, and 5 years on the rest that fall under powertrain. You won't have any of those warranties left.
