need a little help

I have a '05 rx-8, manual, has 74,000 miles. I bought the car a few months ago, car ran really strong , all was good till a couple weeks ago wen i went to pass a car it cut out and and jerked hard, got around the car it seemed to even back out, then a couple days later it started agian, only this time it would keep doin it till i had to pull over and then it would start to jump up and down on the rpms in idle and then shut down completely. After sittin for a few min it would start back up, run fine for a bit and then do it agian. i was told to replace the mass airflow sensor , so i did, still the same problem. its showin no engine lights, and all that it reads is a misfire code, does anyone hav any idea what might be causing this to happen? The nearest mazda dealer to me is well over 2 hours away, which would make one hell of a tow bill, so before that has to happen any help would be greatly appreciated

HHmmm...
Car is having acceleration issues. Car is misfiring once warm. Car is not holding idle well once warm. Car has an illuminated CEL which OP believes relates to a misfire. Geee, what could it be? Maybe a misfire?

When were coils, wires, and plugs last changed?

just recently purchaced the car, have no idea when anything was changed. its showing no cel light, just wen hooked to computer it reads misfire codes. after reading all these post on here i beleive the coils, plugs and wires to be the problem, having the mileage that it does, and seeing that the oe coils seem to be not all that great, so ill get em all changed out and hopefully thats all it is

Yes, you do that. Update us with the outcome, and it should be good news by then...good luck.

Try just plugs first, new plugs make a huge difference, then you can still go for coils if the problem remains.....
