Need help tracking down my bad gas mileage
#26
I'm officially out of ideas here, the only thing left is my cat must be clogged, dropped money down the drain for the thermostat since the old one was just fine and looked almost brand new, engine temp is roughly the same as it was before the change out although heat does seem a bit hotter.
EDIT: Some hope on the horizon, last night I was driving and my check engine light flashed for the first time since Ive owned the car, had the code run coming back as "Misfire on cylinder #1" looks like those coils/plugs/wires I had replaced 3 months ago have already failed, seems pretty quick for a failure but maybe they were installed wrong, appointment scheduled tomorrow, I dream of a day I can keep my car out of the shop for a week.

Final update, thanks everyone who had suggestions finally got the dealership to recognize there was a problem their statement was this and I quote "We can't do work on it unless there is a code in the computer" so now that there was a code thrown they finally found the following:
Failed coil (just had them replaced 3 months ago, replaced again free under parts warranty)
Failed starter (just had this replaced 3 months ago too, replaced again free under parts warranty)
Seems a little quick for these two items to fail but at least it's finally real progress, it will be a week or two before I can attest to the gas mileage if it doesn't improve the last thing must be exhaust... any excuse for a cat delete is a good one imo.
