Need help Diagnosing my tranny
I bought my 8 used about 3 months ago it had 55,500 miles on it when i bought it as of right now I am at 59,xxx.
I didn't know it at the time but when i bought the car it already had a broken clutch pedal,
I was taking it in to get the ECU flash version checked and they found out that not only was
the ECU flash out of date but I had a broken clutch pedal as well. They reflashed and
installed a new clutch pedal for free.
The transmission makes a fairly loud clunk that can be heard and felt through the whole car, this only happens when i pull up to a stop and then
shift into first. On top of that under aggressive shifting going from 3rd to 4th it will grind. With the exception of these two issues the tranny
works like a dream. There is also the "bearing" noise that every other MT RX-8 has but mine is a bit louder than anyone elses that I have heard.
I have 2 questions, does anyone know what is causing these problems and how would I go about
having my dealership fix them? Can I just show up and ask them to fix it? As I am still under warranty?
Thanks in advance for any help, sorry for the long post.

I was under the assumption that the 2007's were covered up till 60k for the transmission. I also get the 100,000 mile or 10 year engine warranty right? Where might I find info to confirm?

The power train warranty should be 5 years / 60k miles, so before you hit 60k you really should tell them about these problems. Maybe call the dealership or mazdas 1-800 number and make sure the 2007 had the 60k warranty but I think it should.

Just looked in the warranty information booklet in the owners manual and I am indeed covered for 60 months or 60k miles. Also, Mazda USA's website states that all RX-8's produced after the 2004 model year have an 8 year or 100,000 mile extension on rotary engine core components. I already have an appointment set up with my dealership for Tuesday, I just hope they aren't real douche bags about it.

These attachments will help straighten things out. Seems the Powertrain warranty is only applies to 2004-2006 cars. You stated previously, yours is a 2007. The engine core warranty wouldn't cover the transmission.

So i took it to the dealer and they confirmed that I do have a 60 month or 60k mile power train warranty. Two and a half weeks later after having dropped the car off I have all new third fourth and sixth gears complete with synchros, as well as a few other bits and pieces also managed to get them to fill it up with Redline tranny fluid. They even washed it for me!

To add to this I have an 04 at with 87,000 miles. When I get on it, getting on the highway, my second gear makes a chirping, or squeaking sound. Worried the tranny is about to go out.
