GA Need advice!!!!!!!!!!

My RX-8 wont start.....when you turn the engine over it just makes a high pitch noise and sounds like the starter and motor are spinning, but never hits one time. When you let off the key ist still spins......I am thinking timing belt/chain...or maybe broken bendix on the starter.....anyone have any ideas? Also, about what I am going to spend on a repair?

We dont have timing belts or a timing chain, are you sure its not a bearing in the air pump that is screaming, what happens when you turn the key to the "on" position, is the noise there ? If it is, disconnect the air pump electrical connection and do a "de-flood" procedure.

Have you been driving on cold starts and shutting the car down when still cold?

probably. mine was tempermental and would make me sit in parkinglots for 10 minutes trying to start it. After 2 weeks of that B.S. I went had a new on put in. They said my 8 was the quickest they ever seen start up after that. If you arent a Do it yourselfer. Its gonna cost around $600. If it flooded, you might consider new plugs, coils and wires tacking on another $450 or so.

The car has 95700 miles on it. I was told that these engines have a warranty from Mazda and are replaced for free. Is this correct?
