My RX8 is lagging and has a hard time starting up
I have an 04 model. It will start up at first with a lil struggle but when I turn it off and try turning it back on I have a really hard time starting it. Also it began lagging when I accelerate...What should I do??
I heard that Mazda does engine recalls if your car is under 100k is this true?

how many miles, mods, maintence, ect? do you have a cat? stick or auto? hows your battery? do you have the upgraded starter? when was the last time you did coils, plugs and wires? does it have trouble starting when its warmed up? could be a lot of things. ingintion, fuel pump, compression ect
the engine warranty is 8yrs/100k miles. being an 04 the warranty is most likely up. the 8yrs starts from the sale date

Turning slowly--Starter/Battery issue
Turning normally, for a long time--compression, possibly ignition or fuel pump
And it wasn't a recall, it was a warranty extension. Like 200 said, it's for 8yr/100k, so unfortunately you are more than likely on your own in that aspect. How many miles are on your 8?

Do some research.
You're on the right forum for research, so you're halfway there.
Your research will lead you to think about doing quite a few things to your car that have been neglected over its entire life.
Slow cranking speed - Resolve this by putting in a fresh starter. You can use anything from '06 to '11. They were built bigger, and are stronger, which will help the engine spin faster while cranking.
Weak battery - If your battery is old, have it tested at your autoparts store, and replace it if it is borderline or failing. More electricity means that the engine will spin faster while cranking.
Weak/failed ignition system - if you don't know when the plugs, wires and coils were last replaced, you NEED to replace them now, before they kill the engine. And yes, they will kill the engine.
weak/failing fuel pump - early fuel pumps tended to cause trouble starting after the car was warmed up - a great example is stopping for gas on your way home from work. Replace the fuel pump, and this problem goes away, as long as the problem wasn't ignition, starter, or compression related, of course.
