TX My poor RX8

Hey guys,
Tuesday after i got home from driving from work (2 miles at the most) i got back in my car to get some food and low and behold my car wouldnt start. Immediately what came to mind was that i flooded the engine because i didnt warm it up properly and especially since it was starting to get cold here in SA or at least it was Tuesday. Anyways i tried the deflooding procedure (depress accelerator, crank 10 sec, wait, crank) and after about 10 tries it turned on(was connected to another car's battery). Problem is that i reved it for a while and tried to get all the smoke out but everytime the rpms came back down to about 1500 the car wanted to shut off so i kept revving it finally once it got back down to about 1000 it shut off. I have been trying to get it back on but no luck any suggestions? Im thinking about taking it to alamo rotary in San Antonio? I dont know what else it could be. Some mechanic neighbor said it was likely the fuel pump or starter but he knows nothing about rotary engines. I just dont want to have to pay the dealership $800 for just a deflood. Battery is new by the way. Thanks!

Hmm... hard to say, it could be a number of things posting more information can help more, and hopefully the pros will chime in soon.

things that can help with the problem:

Miles on engine/is it a reman, or original?
how old are the plugs/coils?
has your CEL come on?

you should check you spark plugs, you may have just flooded dont know for sure.

ive had it for 2 years....its a 2004 automatic....mazda dealership put a new engine in it a couple years before i bought it (the old engine was recalled) the new engine has 66,494 miles on it. The CE light came on and started flashing once i got the car started up. As for the spark plugs i havent checked them i was going to remove them and clean them tomorrow morning.

Shady has spoken in the SARX thread

You most likely need a new engine, confirmed it for me since your reman engine has done 66xxx miles

getting it towed tomorrow....car has started two days in a row im just not good at getting all the excess gas out and quick enough to remove the jumper cables to drive it around. It happened once before last year around christmas took about an hour but finally got it up and running. Is there a way to tell the difference between it being flooded and the engine shot?
