i just installed my ms intake, search the site for a while but couldn't find an answer..

for those who have the intake do you leave that sock on the filter?

 

I did. It helps keep the big particles from getting stuck in the filter

 

I did too. I figured it's hard enough to change as it is and the sock will prolong the time between cleanings. I must admit it did look a little restrictive.

 

I left it on too.

 

I have an AEM intake (basically same design as MS) and I've been running with the sock too. I also thought that it looked a little restrictive. Has anyone tried to run with and then without the sock to see if they had any noticeable restrictions?

Then no. It will not restrict unless it gets dirty. it will save the filter from trapping large debris and keeps water out of the filter.

I know they work great in the diesel community and a diesel sucks far more air than the renesis does especially at 23-35 psi of boost.

 

I only use a sock if I think she's been whoring around.
