Worst case is a coolant leak into one of the chambers. When it is parked the coolant is still under pressure and is forced into the chamber. My old RX-3 developed a leak and while it was off coolant leaked into the chamber and when I started it it smoked like one of those insect fogger trucks for a few minutes until the coolant cleared out.

it could be a condensation.. or a leaky valve seals.. White smoke is usually either coolant in the engine, or oil in the exhaust from a turbine seals..

Leaky valve seals?
Could just be a burned valve guide or bad cam timing.
He should check to see if his timing belt has slipped.
