Leaking sound on startup
Maybe I'm paranoid but lately whenever I start the car there is a distinct liquid sloshing noise, like something is leaking or fluids sloshing around quite a bit. I do not recall hearing this before, and a search turned up no results. The car is not leaking any fluid on the ground though, even after startup and checking a short distance of pavement driven over including where the car was sitting on startup. No abnormal amount of smoke either and I've never flooded. The sloshing generally continues for a short while, about two minutes then goes away. None of my other cars have done this, and it is possible I just didn't hear it before but I'm pretty sure I would have.
So...any suggestions?

I have others..

A chirp or squeak may be heard at times from the engine compartment. This can occur at engine start, or during engine acceleration. The noise can easily be mistaken for a squeaky accessory drive belt. The noise is actually caused by a slight momentary lean mixture, which results in engine detonation.(Pinging) The RENESIS rotary engine runs much leaner than previous rotary engines, resulting in improved fuel economy N lower exhaust emissions. This momentary lean condition will not cause engine damage. IMPORTANT! It is important to note that customers who use low octane fuel will experience a noticeable increase in engine noise. The RX8 requires premium fuel for best performance N engine life. FUEL: Octane rating (Anti-knock index): Premium unleaded fuel 91 (R+M)/2 method or above (96 RON or above) Fuel with a rating lower than 87 octane (91 RON) could cause the emission control system to lose effectiveness. It could also cause engine knocking and serious engine damage.

After performing repairs or any time cooling system coolant is drained, the cooling system must be purged of air. Use the following procedure below to remove air from cooling system: 1. Safely elevate front of vehicle on hoist. Elevating the front end only, at a steep angle will allow air trapped in system to escape easily. 2. Temporarily remove a coolant hose to the throttle body. 3. Fill coolant system with proper mix ratio of coolant / water per work shop manual. 4. Start engine N carefully monitor coolant level, topping off as necessary. 5. When coolant begins to flow from throttle body hose, air is bled from system. 6. Carefully attach coolant hose back to throttle body pipe. **Caution, coolant may be extremly hot! 7. Verify proper coolant level N add as necessary. 8. Check system for leaks. 9. Verify repair.

I bet you have it there, once going up a steep hill (I was on it at least 30 seconds) the low coolant light came on for about 5 seconds (I disregarded it because of the very brief amount of time it was on and it hadn't happened again), and the sound has only happened after my last service when they did a fluid change. Thanks.

I hear this sound at least once a week. Here's an older thread with some other ways to try it in case your dealer "thinks it's normal" and wouldn't perform the MRI:

Funny, I'm getting the same sound too. I thought it sounded pretty freaky when I hit the ignition and then suddenly hear this sloshing sound. I guess I'll mention it to the dealer at the next oil change. I did an "oil change plus" at my last change which included a refilling of all vital fluids, so maybe they did something to the coolant.
