So, I have a couple of issues, tried the search button, didnt really find the answer to it. So here goes, one, I have only one key with a remote on it ( thats how I got bought it off a private seller. My question is if I buy the separate one off ebay, can I code that one as well? Because I have only found threads that require two coded keys, and I have only one. Second issue, I forgot my key last night in my pocket and ..... it ended up in the washing machine. These things arent waterproof are they ... crap ...

 

It's my understanding that you need 2 coded keys to program additional keys unless you are a Mazda dealer; I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm incorrect. As to the wash & wear question; no they are not water proof, I had to replace the battery in mine after my wife washed and dried it! Here's some info on programming and the battery change.

 

Hey, thanks man, that was very helpful, I managed to take the front part off from the other threads, but didn't find anything to check the circuit system where the battery is. Now I sprayed some electronic contact cleaner on it to prevent corrosion, and dried it. No damage so far and still works, might need to store some extra batteries in the car in case this one dies. LOL. Coz the car won't start without the remote.

 

I'm pretty sure the battery only powers the transmitter to allow it's functions (door unlock, etc.) to operate and has nothing to do with starting the car.
