Just Got An Rx8

It's an '04 6-sp manual w/ 22k miles on it.
Car runs flawlessly, as I would expect, and I really like it.
However, in view of all of the issues w/ these first ones in this generation I want to know what things to check for or else expect to go wrong with mine.
The plate shows that it was made in 12/03. Were any of the prob's [tail-light condensation / clutch disk coming apart / clutch hydraulics / front rotor issue / engine flooding / etc...] factory-rectified or else recalled by this date? Anyone know? Advise, thanks!

I bought a 2004 and have had no problems with it. The original owner had to replace the sunroof (or fix it), but there's been nothing else. It's up to date on recalls and flashes and runs extremely well. It doesn't flood and has been very reliable.

At 22k, you might want to check to see if your original tires have been replaced. Mine were replaced at 18k.

Tires

What brand did Mazda use as OEM?
The ones on mine are Dunlop's.

either Dunlop 8 series (ones that I and you have)

or Bridgestone RE040 (which is CRAP)

OEM Dunlop performs better than OEM Bridgestones.

but I like *other* better Bridgestones tho.

Congrat's on the new RX-8. Just have the dealer check and see if it has had all the TSB upgades and any warranty work that has been done to it.
The dealer can pull all this info ( WARRANTY) with the VIN #.
Happy motoring and welcome to the club.

Congrats on the 8 purchase. I, too, have an '04. Not much problems. Replaced the rear tires (no i wasn't power braking) but that's about it.

I'm no longer stock though. I miss the stock sound, but it sounds great now.

Welcome to the club.

I have an 04 with a 5/03 build date and have had 0 problems so far.

Just read up and if you have any problems, I'm sure the guys here will sort you out.
