I had a CEL come on and the mechanic said it was the cat. So instead of spending 1k+ opted to put on an AP Midpipe. I've had it on my car for a month or so now and I'm getting an intermittent CEL. I had it checked at the local auto zone and they pulled the P0420, which i realize is a cat code, and I'm getting it because its a catless midpipe. It comes on, stays on for a day and goes back off.

Could there be something else causing this? Also after putting my midpipe on I never really feel like I got all my power back from my clogged cat, got better mpg, but no power like everyone talks about.

Also...and please don't flame me...I've thought about buying one of those piggy back chips. I realize it will not provide the 50+ hp gains as advertised, but was wondering if it would make better use of my CAI and Midpipe and possibly restore some power?

I've also thought about sending off my ecu to Racing Beat to have them do a street tune.

any help you all could provide would be great. Thanks again!

catless midpipe means youre gonna have a cel no matter what. some get lucky and dont ever get one, mine didnt come on for 6 months, then came on and stayed on permanently...its a hit or miss...no piggy backs, look into a Cobb Accessport or get a tune from RB like you mentioned, those are the only 2 methods that you should use as an rx8 owner. dont expect much gains from aftermarket parts, turbo or SC are the only real ways to gain major horses, so even a midpipe sometimes wont do much.
