The 2nd screen (closest to the MAF) is pinched between the air box and a small section of pipe.
Think of this, a round screen moving down a round pipe. Same concept as to why a manhole cover will never fall into the hole.

IF it managed to get free (which would be difficult unless its VERY deformed) it has a couple obstacles.
1) The MAF/IAT hanging down. It'll need to get around that.
2) The throttle body flap. Might be more difficult because the flap occupies the largest open area of that entrance way.

Now if the screens are really THAT bad, you should replace them.
Remember, the screens are there to smooth the air over the MAF sensor.
If the screens are deformed, head over to the Buy/Sale section and look for someone selling their stock intake.
Many people aren't using it if they have a AEM/MS intake setup.
