if catalytic converter dead
If your car lost power or engine light call DTC P0410 problem, and your car symptoms are similar like this [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d40CMn9XjF0"], this could mean that catalytic converter (cat) was dead. those who said that you must buy new cat are wrong. there is way how to fix it, but this is illegal in some countries. But who care laws when your car goes better than before.
1. so first of all you must take off your cat
2. if you found something like this
its means that one of your cat filter was destroyed and second was stoppered, it looks like this
3. so now you have three choise, buy new cat, break down another filter, or clean it.
To clean it, you can use water and suck out the dust with a vacuum cleaner.
If you don't need cat filter anymore just break down it and cleaned all ****....
4. so everything is done, now just Collect everything into place.
5.your car now more powerful and emit more pleasant sound, but remember that without cat filter you pollute the environment and can not pass the technical inspection

theres no filter inside the cat. its several fine screen made from special material that catalyze toxic exhaust gas into nontoxic exhaust.
there are two different problem with cats one is plugged cat which means the screens are either melted or clogged up with carbon build up. the other is the material is poisoned no longer catalyzing the exhaust gas.
first one will affect performance, the second one wont but throw a code.

So everything what you say, can be named like FILTER, without cat you growing up power (not much but grow), because fumes going out without resistance .
