Lightbulb idle

Hey guys, I have a 2004 RX8 (6 speed MT) with 50,000 on it. I bought it about 15000 miles ago, since I've noticed a change in the sound? (when I'm idling and have my foot off the clutch it sounds like there is some play in it, when I hold the clutch in it goes away) Should this be expected with the rotary? Also, the car has been idling just below 1k rpm, what should it be idling at ideally? I'm fairly knowledgeable about mechanical work (I have an 86 Chevy, but I know nothing of this car) I'm not sure, but I don't think it was idling that low when I first got the car, I've also noticed the mpg down to around 17 (1/2 hwy, 1/2 city) and i feel that may be a result of the idle? I'm sure at 50000 there should be a tune up? Could someone please help!

The idle is spec'd to 800rpm, but mine varies between 800-850 once the car is warmed up depending on accessories, a/c use, etc. Your gas mileage is within the norm, and I get 15-16 with 70c/30h.
