I think my OMP has died...
To make a long story short... I slightly overfilled my oil about 3 tanks ago...only slightly... I check my dipstick today after 3 fill ups, and it looks still slightly over filled. I have been pre-mixing 6oz per tank for the last year or so. and oh... I have a MM tuned COBB so it should be using a little more than normal due to MM upping the OMP rate.
Is there any test I can do ? I dont have any codes showing up? should I up my pre-mix?
Any help appreciated.

Have you been driving it hard?
If not, up the pre-mix on one tank to 8 - 10oz and go beat the CRAP out of it for 100 miles or so.
If you run around really hard (like track-day hard) for about 100 miles, it should go through 1/8 of a quart of injected oil.
Also, look at the OMP lines (they are clear plastic). If there are lots of air bubbles (the oil looks like "dashes" in the line), then contact me for a special AccessPORT program that jacks the oil to maximum and primes the lines.

Thanks MM for the reply ! Now that I think about it... I probably have been taking it a little easier on her lately (traffic).
But it just got me alarmed after 3 tanks and the oil level doesnt look like it has moved...
I will check the lines in the AM and give it to her for the next couple of days and check back with ya! Thanks again !

I did check the lines... they look solid...no bubbles. Spent my entire day at 1 client location, so not much "Spirited driving" today. Gonna put a few more ounces of pre-mix in and try to drive here hard.. checked codes again and nothing..
I was assuming that I SHOULD get a code if the OMP goes out, wont I ?

I haven't calibrated the dipstick in the region *above* the full line, so it's hard to say how much extra oil you really have. Why not drain some and then adjust it back to be exactly at the full mark. Then you have a known basis for comparison.
Or if you want to get ****, put some fluorescent dye (for spotting leaks) in the crankcase. The lines to the omp are clear so you should be able to determine flow pretty easily with a UV light.

Ok... It has been 2 weeks since I first post about this.. 2 more tanks of gas and the oil level is exactly where it was. So in total, i have run 5 or maybe 6 full tanks of gas through without having to top off oil. I have been watching my OMP position on the cobb and I do see it changing values, but could it change and still not really be pumping oil? Car seems to be running fine.. and I have upped my premix to about 8 or 9 oz per tank.

Jeff: you just reminded me of something.
For people who do the Mazda Zoom engine cleaning method, woudl you recommend getting that special map from you to crank the OMP upon startup?
I think I recall the Mazda instructions mentioning something about turning up the OMP after decarbing the car.

Sorry. I lost track of this thread.
This is a link to AccessPORT tunes (all US models in a single ZIP) that should be used to prime the OMP only. You can also use it for SeaFoaming, if you like.
IMPORTANT:
These tunes are NOT for driving. Only for priming the OMP. They do not contain any performance data, they are RPM restricted and contain a freaking LOT of oil.

Hey Jeff,
I installed the "Max Oil" map tonight... Let it run for about 15-20 mins, revving slightly every now and then... NO SMOKE...... I did notice the OMP position sensor in the accessport showing 58 out of a possible 60 the entire time. Was 15-20 Mins not enough? or do I assume my Omp is dead? If it is dead, I guess I should get it replaced...the car is still under warranty.

Another Question for Jeff...or anyone.. After I loaded the "Max oil" map and it did not smoke...I immediately reflashed my MM tune... now the Car tries to die at idle... with clutch in, coming up to a stop light , it has died twice now.. revs get down to about 500rpm or lower.

too much oil?
that's odd that the car is dying out. Did you get any errors when reflashing?

No errors.... no CEL's Idle just keeps dropping too low... if you give it about 5 seconds (if the car doesnt die) it will come back up where it should be...a little over 900 rpm.

could be a dead OMP?
