clutches as well as flywheels can break from abuse and sever use...but most of the time its from A)Bad build quality, faulty materials, unknown flaws in the materials...ect or B)Bad instalation, damage durring install...or not installed correctly/to manufacture specs.

It sounds to me like this clutch was just a bad apple....sorry it had to happen to you...but when you think of just how many clutch disks mazda goes thru, statistics say there are at least a few bad ones.

Even so, to have it fail like that it had to be faulty, Iv'e seen factoy cluches droped at 8k+ and not fail quite frequently, but it will reduce the life of your car and clutch considerably, especially in the breake in period.

there was a recall for something having to do with the clutch, right?? : Tech Garage-- Problems section: Look it up.

I’m not going to lie. I mean I was driving the car harsh…but for only the first week. I never dropped the clutch in that high of rpm…and the day that it happened... I was driving really well. cuz I’ve been getting **** from my friends that I’m driving it too hard and ****...so I decided to drive all slow… I told you guys basically everything that happened and how it happened.. I just hope I drive better with this new clutch…or I’m going to **** it up... I’m from southern Cali. Area, on the boarder of LA county and Orange county…city called Diamond Bar... I’ve wanted to go to sum of the meets but I always miss them. Anyways…I’m supposed to be getting the car back today…thank god cuz they gave me a COROLLA as a loaner car…I mean if it was an AE86…that would be another story…but an ’04…that’s just a sad *** downgrade! Anyways… you guys are DAMN helpful…I wish I could go to a rx8 meet sum where around here…

im not sure if a lo0se bolt could be related...but it could be a possibility. I actually spoke to a mechanic who said he used to work on mazdas like 15 years ago..and he was like "oh the exhaust runs next to the tranny, so its gonna over heat the tranny and **** it up" i dont kno if thats tru or not...i just kept listening...i wanted to be like..."well that was 15 years ago...not 2005..." but i dont even know if thats still how the tranny and exhaust are still set up...just thot u guys would want to know....

Update on my ride:

I guess im supposed to find out in like another 30 minutes when i can pick the car up...they said they fixed the clutch and put a new one in..and i guess their doing all the neccessary recall stuff...i hope they flashed it...but im not sure if they did or not....ill have to wait and see....anyways...ill keep yall updated.

Thanks again guys! HUGE help!

Other members have had warranty voided based on statements made on the forums. Your sarcasm is misplaced.

They dont need your vin number. On message boards, people tend to give small tidbits about their lives throughout their stays here. After a few months, people release:

-Name...
-Where they are from...
-Where they bought it...
-What their cars stats are ('04 silver 6-speed 8 in ur case)...
-When they bought it...
-What they paid for it...
-What they just broke on their car...

Mazda is smart, and visit this website. If someone breaks their tranny for example via screwing around. They will use the search button, and see that sup3r_d00d with the broken tranny caused by racings real name is Billy Dean, he has a 2k5 Red rx-8 GT package with red interior. Bought it at Mariah Mazda in september of 2005. With any 2 of these informations, mazda could search for the rest of the information in THEIR databases....and void your warrenty like they did with some other rx8club people.

Heh. I love people who write like the OP. It actually takes more effort to write like that than to write properly. I mean, to intentionally misspell every other work so that it's written in "cool speak" must be hard. It's like translating from English to Japansese or something. Nevermind it makes you look like an illiterate boob who failed 4th grade. I guess that's what the kids are into these days... looking stupid.

I take it break-in period means nothing to this guy. For that matter, Merriam-Webster doesn't either.

i am pretty sure that every rear wheel drive vehicle made has the exhaust run near the tranny. so i dont think that it is a particularly Mazda fault. i would stop listening to that particular former mechanic
