How get dealership service record before purchase?

I am buying a new 2004 RX-8 from a Mazda dealer which apparently had "miscellaneous service" done with 5 miles on it according to Carfax. How can I see what exactly this service was? Should I call the dealership where I am buying it from and ask what this service was, can they look it up, or should I call MazdaUSA? The service was probably done at a different Mazda dealership since this car has been dealer-traded, so do I have to call up that other dealership or are all the Mazda dealerships' service records connected? It is reasonable for me to ask this, and they should be able to find out what this service was and give me the info right?

The dealer you are buying the car from can run the vin and break down every WARRANTY claim.

They cannot however see non-warranty issues.

Thats what I did, they would not tell me who owned it but they did break down the warrenty claims on it based on the VIN number. Always better safe than sorry.

Its brand new, no one ever owned it, but I think they can still pull it up right? The dealership had the service done itself I believe, so I dont know if that is a warranty claim or not.

More than likely it will be labeled as a warranty claim. If not, they don't get paid.
