Help please! Code c1306

Im going to make the story short ya, Got DSC light on and have no control of my DSC/TCS. Took my car to a local mechanic who ran a diagnostic and got a code "C1306" which states that there is a problem with the Steering angle sensor. I did some searches but couldn't find much info on it.

Can someone enlighten me on this issue? Has anyone replaced or had issues with this sensor before? Who can i purchase this sensor from besides Mazda dealer?

Any info will be well appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Mazmart has a lot of used parts for sale, shoot them a PM
The service manual says where this sensor is located etc, since you had to go to a mechanic to run a diagnosis i guess that you're not much of a car guy though so pay attention to what you're doing.

Start your car. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left. Center it.
Did the light go off?

Shouldn't it auto-reset after a few drive cycles anyway?

Search.

This has been successfully fixed by dozens of members, almost none had to touch the rack or even the sensor.......

My own fix thread, from 2005-

I had already tryed to reset ( turn the wheel to left, then right etc. ) that doesn't work. the stumping on the brakes 20 times also didn't work. I could drive the car but when i first start the 8 it's kinda hard to turn the wheel but after you do turn it the steering wheel feels fine and i could drive it, the problem is that the traction control is off when driving the car.

No, your problem is bad contacts, but I'm sure you'll find that out eventually.......

lol i already know that, that is what caused the traction control problem in the first placed. I just need to find where the bad contact is coming from ( going over the wires tomorrow ). Lets see what we find.

Thanks Stealth

Bringing this thread back to life. So what happened was: i was driving and all of a sudden I start scraping on something. Well I decided to get home and then look at it. Turns out the bottom of my cat cover came of and is pretty much being held by an o2 sensor. Then my CEL came on. When I was parking I stalled and wasn't able to start a car anymore so I had someone help me push it into a parking spot. Oh and I was also low on gas. The light was on but it still wasn't fully empty. The only code that it gives me is c1306 but that wouldn't make a car not start. So if anyone has any suggestions....

I already put in a new fuel pump this morning and changed coils yesterday. It looks like heat shield is being held by an o2 sensor. That's it. Nothing else

Im not worried about heat shield at the moment. It stalled while it was hot but now it might be flooded too since Ive been trying to start it numerous times. I got multimeter. Going to test coils with it too just to make sure but I really have no other ideas as to what could be wrong. Maybe sparks? If Im able to take off the wheel maybe I'll look at them tomorrow but there really is nothing else that I can think of. Taking it to a mechanic is the last resort. It can't just stop bacause a heat shield fell off. And o2 sensor has nothing to do with it not being able to start.

If the engine is cranking, it's turning over. Both are terms for the engine spinning.

I assume you mean "cranking but it's not firing" ?

Does it only not start when hot? or can you start it when it's cold in the morning or after work?

it's been starting fine before. But on sunday when I was backing into a parking spot it stalled and wouldn't start. And it still doesn't start.
