For some reason my air filter and accordian pipe are covered in oil. What the hell is going on????

 

U need a Catch can buddy.... thats whats going on.....

 

I bet it looks like this....

 

1. Search is your friend, this has been covered before (many times)


2. catch can can help or you just need to pour the oil in more slowly with a funnel, that will help prevent it from getting into the airbox

 

lol bunch of asses lol anyways what you need to do it..
1. get oil catch can or..
2. removet he hose that connects from where you pour the oil and put a little mini filter u can get it at autozone for a couple of buccks, and plug the hole on the accordian intake tube.

clean MAf sensor and replace the filter and clean out the box. should take you a good 45 minutes to do granted you know how to remove the intake box and stuff

Yeah. He's still on my ignore list. And it sounds like there's still a good reason.

To the OP: There is a hose from your oil filler neck to your intake so that extra oil from an overfilled engine would blow out and get sucked in to the intake and burned in the motor. The side effect is that the airbox is lower than the engine intake so when the car is off extra oil ends up dribbling down the intake tube to the airbox and ruining your air filter and possibly dirtying up your MAF. You'll need to clean your MAF sensor and replace your air filter.

Guys thank you for your replies. I thought it was just my engine and I panicked and just posted my own thread without thinking of doing a search. Those pics are exactly what mine looks like.

Is the MAF sensor the box that's attached to the right hand side of the accordian pipe? What can/can't I use to clean it? Would it be OK to disconnect the pipe going from the oil neck to the pipe and just plug both holes?

In the old(er) days, people will try to find answers on their own, trial and error whatever. not just copy copy copy copy ...

but these days, people ALMOST ALWAYS wanna copy the others. Googling school work, post a question on forums and hope someone will do the work for them, etc.

There's no need to act the *******. If you took the time to tell me to search it wouldn't have taken any longer to give me a direct answer to my question...

 

go to a auto parts and get some electronic spray cleaner. remove the intake box. id wash it down and rinse it out. you can plug that hose (from the oil kneck to the accordian tube) keep the other ones. there is no need to plug those up

The funnel I have screws into the filler and it goes down about an inch and a half past that pipe!

@05 - would it have any adverse effects on the car? They must have put it there for a reason??
