Unhappy HELP NEEDED! Bad sound, switched off, will not start now, oil leaking

Hi All
I'm after a bit of help.

Recently I noticed a strange noise happening at higher revs, basically its a sort of rattly sound. Then today the sound became very loud all of a sudden and it sounded like a dirt bike sort of sound, really rough and tinny. I then pulled over at the station and checked the oil which seemed okay but topped up a little bit. I then tried to start the car but it would not start. I noticed that oil had come out from around the engine of gearbox area.

I have now toed the car home and checked underneath but not really knowing what I am looking for am really struggling to find out the issue. The Cat seems oil free but the Gear Box, Engine and starter motor are caked in oil and the car still wont start.

Any help on this would be REALLY appreciated.

Thanks again

James

Maybe you have a leak in your oil pan? Maybe check and see if all your wires are connected for the starting issue and also check your intake for oil. If buy chance you over filled not saying you did it would gum that up. You could have blown a seal or something Im just not sure bud.

I was searching the web for possible answers and you could have a gearbox oil leak that would cause oil to cover the starter and the gearbox just a thought....

Typically people look to see where the oil/fluid/other is on the underside of the car. This can throw you off because the fluid usually gets pushed by the air as the car moves down the road and covers everything underneath. This is why you look to the most forward point of the oil/water/other leakage. Jack up one side of your car (jack in the trunk works just fine) and remember to put a jack stand or other under the car for safety. Use a flashlight. Two cans of brake cleaner and a roll of shop towels will work to clean all the nastys off. Be cautious to NOT clean the car before inspection. Use that flashlight to shine everything under the car. Lower jack and lift other side---repeat process to look under the other side of the car.

BTW, was the sound like a machine gun? ba ba ba ba ba.....?

I'm sorry but this doesn't sound like a easy fix. Hopefully I'm wrong. Good luck and let us know.
