I've spent a lot of time helping other people out on the forums and now I could really use some help myself.

I was working on my driver's side seat to try and inspect the seat heater connections (it hasnt worked in months). I moved the (powered) seat all the way forward and disconnected both plugs in the bottom rear, and was checking some of the contacts for continuity and generally inspecting it to try to figure out the heater issue. I didnt' find anything broken, which now is the least of my worries.

At some point after re-connecting everything, I realized that the seat still would not move at all! I think possibly some of the contacts I made with the multimeter may have shorted something out perhaps???? I thought maybe I blew a fuse or something but ALL OF THE FUSES IN BOTH FUSE BOXES ARE FINE. I tried resetting the ECU (20 pumps on the brake pedal) but it did not help.

The car starts and runs fine. EVerything else is normal. The only clue I have is that there was a weird clicking coming from the glovebox area, at approximately the pace of the turn signal. It later went away after resetting the ecu, but the seat is still stuck.

I'm going to have to have the car towed to Mazda if I can't figure this out. it's ALL the way forward, I can't possibly safely squeeze in there, let alone drive it that way.

If anyone has ANY ideas, please let me know. All the fuses are fine, but are there some other relays or something that can blow out? How do you test this? Any other components??? Thanks everyone....

Hopefully you weren't checking continuity on the "source side" of the harness since it has constant voltage.
Only fuses in that circuit is the 120A MAIN, 30A BTN, 30A D. LOCK... no relays.

Do the tilt, recline, and lumbar controls still work?
If so, that'll eliminate the fuses since they are on the same circuit.

There isn't much to this circuit, so you should be able to narrow it down with basic electronics skills.

thanks i appreciate the reply. i was out of town for a week and couldnt respond.

We were checking continuity on that side. ACtually, my dad was and i'm not exactly sure what happened.

No none of the tilt/lumbar/other controls work either, so that indicates it's more likely a fuse? We checked all of the visible fuses, they are all intact. So we should check the other ones? (120A main, 30A btn, 30A door lock)? I'll check those in a bit and let you know, thanks so much for the diagram. I have the service manual but frankly I'm not experienced with with wiring diagrams and couldnt find the right one to look at.

It was the "D. lock" fuse. I never would have thought to check the door lock fuse for a seat motor. Thank you so much Jon!!

Wiring diagrams......worth their weight in gold, or at least worth the price of a tow!

Hi - Can you tell me where this wiring diagram came from?
It's the closest thing I've got for my project but I'm not experienced enough to match the wiring colours in the harness I have to this diagram. I want to try an work out what the codes mean... eg: W/G (R) or B/R (R) or P1-01.

It came out of the RX8 electrical manual. It might depend which model year you have.
