Help!
I have Unorthodox Underdrive Pulleys on my 2004 RX-8.
They have been on for about, 10,000 miles with no issues.
I just had the belt replaced however, and now it is eating belts.
1. These belts are the same exact size type as the original belt that functioned just fine on my 8.
2. The mechanic said that the pulley's have a rubber coating where the belt wraps around, and that for some reason the pulleys are getting too hot and becoming sticky and then the belt snaps.
3. If that's true, then why didn't it happen before with the original belt?
4. Unorthodox's phone line is DISCONNECTED!
Help please?

Don't know the answer, but am intrested in what you find out.
I still have the UR pulley's but I haven't had to change a belt yet.

We are currently trying to re-create the problem in the shop to try and figure out whats causing it. Be warned, if the belt throws say hello to coolant everywhere and goodbye to your water pump.
All I can think of is the belt being too tight.
Why did you replace the belt at 10k miles?
Try talking with NAPA and belt manufacturers. Maybe you got hold of a bad batch.
The belts weren't made in China were they?

lol ^^ when I started reading that I thought it was going to end along the lines of you telling him he put the belt on backwards. :P dunno why just a sadistic thought before I finished reading your sentence.
Well yeah of course the pulley wont last long if its not put on correctly. The guys working on it seem to think the issue with it has to do with the pulley itself. I cant verify any of this though because I have been on campus all day. If when I get home they still haven't fixed it I'm going to just put a belt on myself, over tighten it just a little bit since it will stretch a bit anyway, and try to re-create what happened.
