Unhappy Help

Hi All.
I had a 30,000-mile service done the Saturday before Christmas. Christmas eve I was on the parkway and at 7 grand my 8 started breaking up and the engine light went on. I took my foot of the gas and popped it into neutral. The car stayed running. 30 seconds later the engine light went out and the car seemed fine,,, until I brought the RPM’s up again. At 4 grand it seemed to have power intermittently and arounf 6 1/2 I got the breakup and engine light again. I came home and researched the symptoms and thought I needed plugs.
Today I installed the new plugs and while doing so I disconnected the Air box. To my surprise the intake tunnel between the box and the manifold was filled with oil. Changing the plugs has not helped. The car still has no power and breaks up approaching 7 grand. It feels like I’m running on half my engine. Has any one had this problem? Could it be coils or wires? What’s with the Oil in the intake? Did I blow a seal? I would like to know a little more about things before I give it to the dealer again.

I have had my 8 since 8/04 and have tinkered around with it since the beginning. This problem never existed in my 8 till just around the 30 grand mark. In fact it was only days after my 30k service. As far as I’m concerned, this isn’t an existing problem, like sugested in the threads U sent me. but it would seem I do have the same problem they so. I just need to find out why now. I would have seen it if it was happening all along… this is new and I am pushing my dealer for a total fix.
Today I dropped it off. They haven’t had a chance to look at it yet but I will keep log the updates under https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=105014 .

Bad CAT ?

how can the dealer give a 30k check up and not replace plugs.

Well, when I went to him for the 30K I also went to hime for a recall. On the recall letter it said they would replace the plugs. I told the service guy that the plugs were on the recall and that should lower the cost of the 30k service. he agreed, however nothing to do with the plugs was on my paper work when I got the car back so I asume they forgot. any way I didn't have time to leave my car with them again so to save myself some greef I just desided to do it myself.
