Hazards Don't Flash -- Keyless entry

Hey guys, this is my first post here, i recently bought a 2004 rx8 and I love it. There's one thing thats been bothering me, and that is that when i unlock or lock my car doors, my lights do not flash. Its not a major problem, but i really like the visual confirmation that i've locked the doors. I tried search google but i didn't find any relevant articles. Thanks for looking, and I appreciate the help.

If your trunk or hood is not shut all the way the lights will not flash

^Yep. Check that the trunk is closed all the way.

I remember reading about the trunk problems, and your horn is also not supposed to sound. But my horn sounds when i double tap the lock button. It has been doing this since the day i got the car, and i've repeatedly made sure the trunk and hood are both secure before I try and lock the doors.

That's normal.

I know the horn sounding is normal, but the hazards not flashing is what i'm trying to figure out.

close the trunk

the horn is just telling you that you've tapped the button when it was already locked. the flashing lights tell you the alarm has armed. if your alarm is not arming its usually because one of the trunk/doors/hood is open. but you could have some other reason that its not arming. if you are certain it isnt one of those things open then you have some other issue with your alarm that will probably take the dealer to sort out.

its probably that the plunger contact for either the hood or trunk is dirty or bent and so not making contact correctly

thanks for the advice, i will try and check this out. I'm 100 percent sure that the trunk and hood are securely closed, so i'll check the plunger contact points. I hope that is the problem, because i really don't want to take it back to the dealer :/

I'll post back with results.

Well i checked the contact points and there doesn't seem to be a problem. Where is the main alarm location? Could i try to reset it somehow?

Roll the drivers window down and arm the alarm. Now reach in while still locked and unlock and open the door. See if the alarm goes off.
