Gas milage problemo?
I recently purchased a RX8, and I knew I was gonna be shocked with the gas milage a lil bit, but now I'm starting to wonder if I have a small fuel problem somewhere. So far I've put down maybe 2,000 miles in 2 months or so already, and I've been ranging from 12 to 14 mpg (if I was lucky). I finally decided to not drive like a jerk to see what kind of numbers I could really hit. I've kept it from 3k to 4k rpm when accelerating, putting 36 miles on it so far with only fully putting out maybe 3 or 4 times. The problem: 36 miles and I'm already down a quarter tank. It's been mainly city, with a few miles highway, but still, that seemed pretty bad. Although on the highway one time on a past tank of gas, i drove at least 60 miles on it and came with 14-15 mpg total for that tank; so could I be having some sort of fuel problem somewhere in my engine? What can I do to fix it?
Since I'm here, how do I take my door panels covering the speakers off? It looks like one giant piece and I don't want to screw up anything in there. Same for the rear speakers as well.
Info of my RX8:
04 4-Speed AT Base Model
83,XXX miles
P.S. I came from an 01 Chrysler Sebring Convertible with the cursed 2.7L deathtrap!

If you arent getting about 18mpg city, 22hwy, then something is wrong with your foot, ignition, engine, fuel trims, or cat.
On my phone atm, so i dont have the link handy, but i wrote up more detail on my 'new and prospective owners' thread. A quick search should find it.

ah, I see. Well the only thing I have done has been draining out the oil and putting in a fresh batch of oil after replacing the oil filter, and I havn't really done much to it as I'm not completely sure what should be done to it as it was an impound car that was sitting there for almost a year I believe. It also may have salvage title, but for $5,000, I'm driving it into the ground, or buy an upgraded motor to stick into it after it dies haha. I do have a lead foot and I didn't learn my lesson from my old car, but I'm taking it extremely easy to see what this car has to offer, and its no bueno so far.
