Flooded?

I have been looking on here for about half an hour now and can't find the answer to my question.
I was driving in stop and go traffic for about 4 hours on Friday. I was stopped and went to take off again and the car was stalled. It would not start so I started it as if it were flooded (holding ignition and gas pedal for 7 secs and releasing) and it started right up.
I'm not sure if the car flooded or what. I was under the assumption that smoke poured out of the exhaust from the unburned gas being trapped in the engine. There was no smoke that game out of the exhaust when it started back up.
I am wondering if this is a problem that I should look into or if it was just being a moody rotary. If it is something I need to look into is it something that Mazda will fix?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank
-Raves

If the car started up it's no longer flooded.
No they don't always smoke, but they may depending situation.

How old is the car?
Miles?
Last time you did coils, plugs, wires?
Check engine light?

Basically if your car didn't start, something is wrong.

Well I was wondering if the flood was the cause of it not starting. I just purchased the car about 6 weeks ago and he claims that the coils were just replaced because it was having trouble starting. I did see a copy of the paperwork. There is a sticker in the window that says oil needs to be changed in another 800 miles. She has 56XXX miles on it.
Is this something I should take to Mazda? I know a good amount about cars and would prefer to fix things myself but with newer cars and more electronics my automotive skill are limited haha.

Well I hate to say this but your story is also common with hot hard starts which is due to low compression.

Have the dealership do a compression test.
