Talking Flat spot in 2nd gear

I've just got a 2003 RX-8 ,Straight as ,13B ,no turbo ,5 speed. When I'm taking it easy ,at about 2000rpm in 2nd gear there appears to be what I can only describe as a flat spot in the acceleration. Anyone else have this problem? And how can I fix this ? Thanks .If you can help or not.

What flash version are you currently running on the PCM? There should be a label on the "A" pillar of the driver's side door that has this information. Also look for a sticker on either the front end of the engine hood or on the engine firewall (usually just to the left of the engine when looking into the engine bay from the front of the car) that should have been affixed by the dealer perfoming the 4206F recall on this vintage RX-8. Let us know if you find this sticker on your car too. By the way, my guess is that you probably have a 2004 car that might have been originally sold in 2003.

Where are you located Wren?

Some forget that the U.S. wasn't the first to see the 8...

The X-Men 2 car was a five speed.

True - a US bias in that part of my response. I stand to be corrected by Wren's response.

I have a 2005, and am experiencing the same problem, when I'm in 2nd, I occasionally get a "flat" spot while accellerating. Is that recall an issue for mine, too?
