Straight to the point - storytime later - My hood dampers no longer hold up my hood. Are they adjustable to make them stronger again? I've had them for around 8 years, and I don't lift my hood much at all other than regular maintenance. Hell I barely drive the car anymore now that I have a bike. But yeah, how do I fix my hood dampers?

So I've been trying to get my 8 into running shape, just recently replaced the spark plugs/wires/ignition coils to fix a engine mis-fire I'd been having. Check, that's done, while doing it, my drivers side door got stuck locked/closed whatever, spent all yesterday getting THAT fixed. Now it seems like I might need a new engine because it's really hard to start the car after it's been warmed up, low compression from what I understand.

 

Would hood strut be a better word? I've googled to no end and not been able to find a way to make these things stronger.
