Question fan on when i turn off the car

I have a problem that happens occasionally.

Sometimes when i turn off my car the fans keep running until i put my key back in the ignition then turn from on to off then they cut off. Does this mean that it's not grounded properly?

anyone???..........

car senses the coolant is too hot and is trying to cool it off so your engine doesn't sustain damage.

by putting your key in and then turning the car on, then removing the key, you've disabled it, and turned off the fan prematurely.

I suggest you let the car cool off next time.

my car recently did this too. wasn't driven hard. cool temperatures. highway miles. stayed on for SEVERAL minutes and did not shut off until i put the key in.

my turbo vw gli only 2-3 minutes after i shut it off, and i would expect the same... i sense that this is not normal...

Sounds normal to me, too. I haven't paid attention to how long the fan on my 8 keeps running, but the fan on my Accord would sometimes go for 5 or 10 minutes.

Never a problem for me, but my wife would panic every time.

Even in the case of the cool temperatures and highway miles it's still normal. Just how things work with the 8.

mine only does it every now and then as well. just let it run its course and go off by itself. only if the fan stays on a long time (hour or more) should you have it checked out.

Out of curiosity, I looked in the owner's manual. It says that if the fan needs to stay on after you shut down, it will run for ten minutes.
