Question Engine sluggish after oil change?

Hiya all. I took my car in for its first oil change at the Mazda dealer and now my car is running alot more sluggish. It feels like the engine doesn't want to turn so willingly. I read the paperwork and see they put 5w30 oil in the car but it had (and previous owner always used) 5w20 per the original requirements. Would them changing to a w30 oil be causing this? The power drain is very noticeable.... its killing me.

I'm going to take it back to the dealer tomorrow to see what they say.

80k on the clock btw. And after doing some reading I'll check the oil level tomorrow morning. Its too dark out now. I'm just curious about the change in the x##......

It's possible that they overfilled the oil. Are you getting any CEL's?

I agree...........they probably overfilled it, fouled up the MAF and the air filter maybe dripping with oil.
5w30 is NOT your cause.

Did the dealer do anything else? Anything at all......no matter how small.

I just checked the oil... its only 1/2 full. They either filled it to the top and I burned that much in 1 week (in 300mi... naah).... or they didn't top it off. I didn't have any other work done. AF looks fine. Didnt check MAF yet.

I'm also noting a little 'tap tap tap' sound I hadn't noticed b4. About 3 or 4 a sec at idle. Could be normal and I just didn't hear it. Not sure tho. Anyone else have the little tapping?

Something else must be going on. I didn't have anything else done to the car. I'm taking it to the dealer and see what they say...

Maybe the poured it in too fast and it soaked your intake through the vacuum hose.

Maybe they took out the MAF and poured it in there? (sorry, I know it's not exactly nice to joke when someone has an issue.)

Well I think I didn't let the car warm up enough or my road is at an angle... it was at 3/4 once it got warm and was at the dealer. They said it was normal... /shrug. They scheduled me for Monday since there was no available tech to check the sluggish issue.....

... but get this ...

I decided to do an oil change for the heck of it. I used GTX 5-20 and now.... its back to running perfectly fine. The power has returned and it feels smoother. No more sluggish and the engine doesn't feel like its fighting with me and its running quieter like when I first purchased it. What the heck??? I'm a tad confused.

Could it be they put the wrong oil in the car??? Maybe a heaver weight oil? I used another OEM filter. Maybe the filter had a defect?

Also thanks for the info on the tapping.

Your problem is the tap tap tap.

Check your plug wires and also the plugs plug could be loose of wire partially connceted/off.
