So i got my rx8 two days ago after new engine replacement. Now the car is running AMAZING! No issues whats so ever but the engine light is on and sometimes it flashes! The dealer tried to reset the light twice already it would work but after you take it for a spin and hit the 60mph mark it turns back on and it will flash and go solid and sometimes it would just disappear again. They tell me they just need to flash the computer since it's new engine and problem solve but they already did and the engine light still there ...in all honesty im worried im OCD when it comes to my car and seeing that light really really bugs me even if my car is running fine.


New engine, new coils,new plugs, new cat all replaced this week by the dealer for free. So any thoughts guys?

 

its a new engine, make the dealer straighten that out. It could be a whole list of things happening, like lack of oil pressure for one...or it could be nothing. If you have the time, make them to take it back and fix the problem. A blinking engine light is different than one just on for something stupid.

 

Yeah I'd raise all kinds of hell until the dealer fixes the problem

 

Yea i'm at work right now i called the service advisor and told him light is still on and blinks.Also when im stopped at a red light i can smell fuel and a burning kind of smell is this normal? Well they came and picked up my car from work and they took it to the dealer to get back to work i mean they have 3 tries to fix it before its a lemon i just bought the car two weeks ago from them so they are treating me REALLY REALLY good no resistant and they not giving me ****.

The manager of the dealer is pissed and told me he's personaly gonna be on top of it. In all honesty best service i had from this mazda dealer hands down, but i just want my car to be trouble free for at least another 65k miles without blinking engine light for effing sake with a new engine.
