Just picked up an 04' RX-8 as a fun daily driver so the 11' Z06 can have the weekends. Aside from a little cosmetic wear and tear the test drive went great and I purchased the vehicle yesterday. Driving from the dealership 20 min later on 4X different occasions ranging from traffic stops (clutch / brake in) to 25 mph shift changes (clutch in) the engine went from 5-600 RPM to 0 and the car died. (car received new shoty block at 36K miles with 70K miles on the chassis currently).

I did a search and a lot of people seemed to point to coils / plugs but a lot of the OPs got those checked out and it seemed like the problem persisted for many folks. Needless to say the dealership was contacted and a free of charge tow truck came and carried the car back to the Mazda service bay. They won't get to the car until Monday. Any ideas esp. from guys who experienced this issue? Thanks!
