Im new to RX8s only had mine for about a year now and its been a nightmare. First was a broken clutch pedal and ended up needing a new tranny...after months of fighting I finally got a new one for free....NOW the other day I was getting on the freeway and brought the car up to 7 almost 8 grand in third gear and she lost power and stalled out on me. Mind you I do up keep the car and all the necessary steps when shutting it off and warming it up and keeping up with oil and all that....After i pulled off the road i let it sit and started it again. I got it started but it died right away after it rumbled rough. There was a CEL light on a few days before and the code was for o2 sensor. The light was off when this happened but as it died the CEL flashed....Does anyone have any idea...DO I need a new motor?

Do you have a stock catalytic converter on the car? How many miles on the car? Have you ever changed the ignition coils?

Yes it is the original cat...the car is an 04 with 43 grand..none of the plugs or coils had been changed...the dealership called today said it needed to be decarbed and they are replacing plugs and coils and checking the cat...they said the o2 on the cat was bent like something had hit it? They said that is just a start and its 1200 bucks...fml
