emissions test triggered p2070
emissions test triggered p2070
Had my CT emissions test this morning, car has been running perfect and i swear there was no CEL on my way to the testing shop. I had just checked the codes a couple weeks ago and nothing was showing as well. It was quite cold this morning though but you'd think the code would have triggered on first start not once it was warm and driven already.
Now i just spent a half hour reading a ton of posts about this code and the SSV and im utterly confident i can go as far as i need to in fixing this so im not asking what to look at to fix it. What im wondering is what the current consensus is on diagnosing the true cause of the code? Most of the posts i read on diagnosing possible parts are 4-5 years old. I know it's still the same parts, but i guess i'd just like to know in what order people are getting at fixing it? Does cleaning out the TB and spraying cleaner down the intake rectify it well enough? Or should i just dig in and pull the ssv valve as preventitive maint anyway?
Theres no loss of power, theres no idle problems, no other codes or any indication of a problem. The car ran fine the rest of the way to work and i wouldnt be surprised if the code is gone when i start it to head home.

Keep rpm below 3500 and u will never see this cel, even if its dead stuck.
Only way to permanently fix this is use the updated ssv. SOmetimes u can unstuck it by going wot, off, wot, off, wot, off thru the whole rpm range.
THis cel does not effect drivability, it just kills ur hp slightly under heavy load

Got this code again today. Is it normal for this code to show up frequently? Also, instead of using the on-wot-off x3 method I used my OBDII to clear it. Is it better to let it clear itself, or does it matter?
It seems to show up when I get stuck in stop and go traffic.

OBD II will just clear the code, WOT will potential fix the actuator that is giving you this problem.
Potential causes:
Carbon build up/valve stuck
Faulty Solenoid
Faulty Actuator
Faulty Switch
Regardless they are all easy to fix, but you will need to take apart a good amount of the top of the block to pull the valve to test it.
