Question Electonics Reset while driving

This is starting to happen more and more often. I do not know what is causing this but all my electronics reset while the car is on. All dash lights come on and the radio resets.

Any ideas?

Driving on smooth roads? bumpy roads? Sounds like a short or a ground fault. Might want to check the terminals on the battery as well as the ground cable.

I was thinking this, but the car doesnt seem to loose all power. For instance if it happens at night the headlights and gauges stay lit

When you say the radio resets, do you mean the preset stations and such are cleared?
If so, then I would also suggest checking the connections to the battery.

im saying tis a place to start since from your sig it appears to be an after market electronic part that is directly related to the system you are having a problem with.

Is it a custom part ipod integration or are you using one of those kits from mazda? Zoom is right though, if it is custom and you have some faulty wiring you could be shorting out the line. Anything running through that fuse is going to get cut.

its a mazda ipod kit that plugs straight into the back of the radio. I am starting to think that my bat has a loose connection or something, but I never have problems starting nor do I get power loss.

You might want to replace your battery terminals. I had this same problem with my old 8, I replaced both terminals and it never messed up again

Hey R L Zoom - any updates on this?

My dealer is trying to figure this out too, they say they've checked the battery & alternator... (under warranty)

sounds like something is shorting out, ground side... time to bust out a DVOM and a few ground connections. Ground connections shouldn't read more than .02 resistance on the cable. Hopefully you can find the issue, electrical stuff = headache. :/
