Dave, read this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=43767
Ok let me jump in on this issue. I went down to my dealer this past Sat for their Car Care Service day. I had all the fluids checked, tire pressure, etc and I also had the reflash done. According to the invoice I have in front of me, the part number they put down for the PCM reflash is N3Z1-18-881G. Not to say I'm the exception to the rule, but I did ask them if there was a flash upgrade, they said yes, and I had it done in 15 minutes. Granted this Mazda dealer is our Miata Club's sponsor, so they know me there but hey, I asked and recieved. :D
Anyone know what this reflash does exactly?

THERE WAS NO FLASH TO BE HAD SATURDAY. IT JUST came out yesterday/last night. they may have had the major update disc saturday (34.0) but they had to wait until yesterday for 34.1. i have no idea what you got saturday. (edit) im not sure (/edit) the part number they used is the new part number.

Surely by now the Dealer had the 33.0...even if they simply waited for the major updates..
There is NO WAY they had the 34.2 last Saturday. It just came out last night around 7:30 est..
Call them and make sure you got the "M"....
Really you should have been at "M" before you went in unless you were a early build and had never been to the dealer since you bought the car.
oops- sorry for the confusion there- i meant to say "im not sure thats the new part number." ill edit it now.
i was going to go check it against the old version of MSP04 but havent had a chance.

Got my "M" flash today......
Hello everyone. I am pleased to announce that I go my "M" flash today. I did not know about the "M" until I started reading the posts on this forum, so I would like to thank everyone who participates on it. I think that the information that is shared on this forum is extremely helpful, especially to a new RX-8 owner such as myself. This forum helped me in my decision to purchase the RX-8, and it continues prove its worth. I love reading the post. In fact, I probably spend way too much time doing so but hey, everyone needs a hobby! Anyway, for what it's worth, thanks everybody. :D

Now everyone get back to work on that wax job, the weekend is coming, and we need to look our best
Oh, hey zoom, the "N" flash must stand for "N"evermind as Rosannadanna would say.
I had my car serviced today and they held off the M flash because the codes are being updated as of this Thursday at my dealer. Maybe this is what all the N flash buzz is about. I'll be getting mine done on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
I got flashed today, also. (Well, my car did). My 2 week old 8 had the "check engine" light come on driving home. Thought I might have been low on oil but it was ok. Took it straight to the dealer and in 30 minutes it was fixed and the Service Manager said that they did an update on it. I asked when I bought it 2 weeks ago if everything was updated and the salesman, of course, said yes. I guess it is now and it does seem to run smoother. I assume it was the ever popular "M" flash. Maybe I'll get better mileage too!!

Also, these two files/part #s are for the 6 speed. The automatic has seperate files/part #s (H4 vs H6 and Z1 vs Z2).
